What is the CACFP?
The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
operating under the United States Department of Agriculture provides
nutritional guidelines, training and reimbursement to registered
day care homes and licensed facilities, serving meals to children
and or adults.
Who can participate?
Participation in the program is provided through
non-profit sponsor organizations in each state such as Northwest Nutrition Service. Registered
Day Care Providers and or "DHS Providers" (Department
of Human Services)(formerly AFS) homes meeting nutrition and
record keeping requirements are eligible for educational programs
as well as monthly reimbursements.

Why should I participate?
There are a variety of benefits to participating
and there is no cost.

Provider: |
A Registered or "DHS" Day Care provider
can receive monthly reimbursements for serving nutritional meals
to their day care children and nutrition education. |

Child: |
A child receives nutritional meals that meet
USDA requirements as well as learns positive eating habits for
the future. |

Parent: |
A parent receives reassurance that their child
is getting their nutritional needs met without extra cost. |

Community: |
Improvement and quality care of children in the
community by meeting their nutritional needs. |
